Reference:  JVC Bulletin 2014-040 Armed Robbery Attempt, Vaughan, Ontario

On Friday, August 1 2014 at approximately 8:30pm two female subjects entered a retail jewellery store located on Steeles Avenue West, Vaughan, Ontario.  One female was armed with a handgun and one was armed with a Taser.  The female with the gun fired the weapon inside the store, just missing the store owner.

One of the females then pointed the gun at a child in the store, pulled the trigger several times, but the firearm failed to fire for unknown reasons.

York Regional Police have arrested one of the females as a result of tips from the public.

Katrina Vanderwyk, aged 24, has been charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of assault with a weapon, three counts of forcible confinement, robbery, robbery with a firearm and possession of a dangerous weapon.

For additional subjects involved in this armed robbery attempted are still at large:

1. Female/black, aged 22 to 27, short black hair.  She was wearing a black, grey and white shawl with a lightning bolt design, a grey shirt, sunglasses, white socks and black shoes at the time of the robbery attempt.

2. Male/black dressed in black, wearing sunglasses and white gloves and carrying a black duffle bag.

3. Male/black dressed in black, wearing a red baseball cap.

4. Male/black dressed in black and wearing white gloves.
