Distraction Theft Ottawa Ontario
Jan 31, 2018
Bulletin 2018-2345

All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of Law

On January 31st  a male and a female entered a jewellery store in the Bayshore Shopping Centre  Ottawa. They  asked to see numerous men's chains. They indicated they were purchasing chains for a wedding. They settled on 4 chains and the salesperson took them to the register to process the sale. The chains were placed into boxes and set on the cash register in the presence of the guests. The suspects produced numerous $100 bills and European Euro's to pay for the items. The guests were then advised that European currency was not accepted at this location and the two left the store to allegedly go to a nearby bank to change the currency. When they did not return the boxes were opened and it was discovered that all 4 chains were gone. Local Police were advised and a report will be filed online at their request.

If you have been victimized by these people contact JVC and your local police.
