Theft By Fraud Edmonton Alberta

Edmonton Police Service has reported to JVC that a local jeweller was the victim of a fraud. A customer selected a number of expensive items and then paid with what appeared to be a bank draft. The jeweller initially check with the bank and was told the draft was good. After the merchandise was shipped it was found that the bank draft had been counterfeited and was not honored by the bank.

Note: Jewellers should be aware that any document printed on paper can be counterfeited. Merchandise should never be shipped or released until the bank draft has cleared the bank.
