Terry McKnight (wanted for investigation)

Toronto Police have just released the following information. On 9th May 2017 police arrested and charged Luther Monroe, one of three men wanted in a violent robbery in Toronto’s west end, with the two others still on the loose. The incident happened on Feb. 3, after one of the victims, a jewellery store attendant, had locked up the store in the Queen St. W. and Dufferin St. area.

The man then made his way through the rear alley to his car, where he was met by three men armed with a handgun. The suspects allegedly took his belongings, pistol-whipped him in the face and head, and forced him into his car, police said. A passerby who witnessed the robbery approached the group to intervene, and was also allegedly assaulted, robbed, and forced into the car.

Police said both victims were held captive and driven around as the group of men tried to get information from the jewellery store attendant. One of the victims alleges that a suspect threatened him with a gun to his head. The suspects returned to the jewellery store and unsuccessfully tried to enter. Both victims found an opportunity to free themselves and call police. Luther Monroe, 33, is facing nine charges including robbery with a weapon and forcible confinement. Police are looking for 23-year-old Terry McKnight, pictured above and are still working to determine the identity of the third suspect. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-7350 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-8477.

There was a similar incident that took place in Hamilton on the 12 January 2017 at New Style Jewellery.
